the one and the many.. watercolor 40" x 50" Detritus
piles of egg sacks, black and leathery, pockets
golden sprays of sea weed, algae, reddish brown
the shells and stones thrown up twisted with line and sea grass
as the tide rushes wave upon wave on to the beach
Silent offerings
Sacrifice in the balance of tides and winds
A gypsy sea cast message
lay drying in a line drawn by an unseen hand
abandoned as the tide withdraws to darkened depths
and reaches down to lift again the broken shells and weathered stones
woven in the mass of weed and curious pods
the alchemy of life below
a spell cast,
the meaning lost
who is left to tell the secrets of the sea?
